Reading list from 2008 and the start of my 2009 list
Posted by onI didn’t read as much as I would have liked in 2008, but hopefully 2009 will offer more opportunity. If anyone has suggestions for books to read next year, please leave a comment. I am always looking for new books!
Here is the list of everything I read this past year followed by the start of my reading list for 2009:
- The Audacity of Hope - Barack Obama
- Dracula - Bram Stoker
- A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
- Angels & Demons - Dan Brown
- Deception Point - Dan Brown
- Digital Fortress - Dan Brown
- The Darkest Evening of the Year - Dean Koontz
- Odd Hours - Dean Koontz
- Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency - Douglas Adams
- 1984 - George Orwell (at least my 4th reading…maybe 5th)
- The Last Temptation of Christ - Nikos Kazantzakis
- On The Road - Jack Kerouac
- The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger (3rd reading)
- The Lord of the Rings “Trilogy” - JRR Tolkien (I read this once per year. Not sure how many times I’ve read it though)
- The Appeal - John Grisham
- Playing for Pizza - John Grisham
- Catch 22 - Joseph Heller (read this in HS once before)
- Slaughter House V - Kurt Vonnegut
- Cat’s Cradle - Kurt Vonnegut
- A Series of Unfortunate Events (13 books) - Lemony Snicket
- War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy (Read this in HS also)
- His Dark Materials (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) - Philip Pullman
- The Dark Elf Trilogy (Homeland, Exile, and Sojourn) - R.A. Salvatore
- The Icewind Dale Trilogy (The Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver, The Halfling’s Gem) - R.A. Salvatore
- Watership Down - Richard Adams
- The Ghost - Robert Harris
- I Am America and So Can You - Stephen Colbert
- Dark Tower Series (7 books) - Stephen King
- The Stand - Stephen King
That’s a total of 55 books! It was a better year than I thought!!
And my starting list for 2009:
- The Chronicle’s of Narnia - C.S. Lewis (I usually read this every few years. Not sure how many times I’ve already read this series)
- Dragon Tears - Dean Koontz
- Hitchhicker’s Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams (read this every few years. Probably my 7th or 8th time)
- Animal Farm - George Orwell (read in HS)
- Lord of the Rings “Trilogy” - JRR Tolkien (Again)
- The Hobitt - JRR Tolkien (I try to read this every year, but usually a few years in between)
- The Silmarillion - JRR Tolkien (I try to read this every year, but usually a few years in between)
- I’ll probably read a few Philip K. Dick books. I have all of them if anyone has any suggestions on good ones.
- Bunch more R.A. Salvatore. I have all of his books so i’ll keep going where I left off.
- I have a bunch of Roald Dahl books if anyone knows if they are good
- Twilight Series - Stephanie Meyer
- Harry Potter Series - J.K. Rowling (at least Half Blood Prince before the movie comes out)
